James Taylor, during a business trip to Scotland, enjoying some well deserved R & R at The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews.

The Ocean Renewable Energy Group (OREG) has presented Lochaber native James Taylor, Nova Scotia Power’s General Manager of Carbon Management, with its first Navigator Award. This award recognizes leadership in working toward the use of ocean energy as a major contributor to future energy supplies.  More specifically it recoginzes the importance of having government, industry and academia work together to reinforce Canada’s leadership in the development  and deployment of  technology to draw renewable energy from our oceans.

During over 30 years in the energy industry, and as a founding member of  the Fundy Ocean Research Centre for Energy (FORCE), James has been a leading advocate for capturing a portion of the prodigious amount of energy generated by the ebb and flow of the world’s highest tides in the Bay of Fundy.  Electricity generated from that tidal energy has the potential to play a very significant role in replacing energy from non-renewable fossil fuels with clean renewable energy.

Congratulations, James!
