One of the most fulfilling things about birding is that where ever you go, be it the mall, a trip, or the back yard your birding interest never leaves you. Every time I go to the Superstore I listen for the Killdeers in the ditch out front. On a past trip to MGM at Disney, Martha and I stood gazing at a pair of Red-bellied Woodpeckers on a tree over a swarm of people. We were the only ones looking up. Aside from all the Disney spectacular exhibits…the wood peckers are a longer lasting memory. This morning as I was puttering around in the backyard, I heard a very distinctive bird call that I had never heard before. I walked towards the sound and flushed a Black-billed Cuckoo ….the only cuckoo found here.
