Despite limited cooperation from mother nature, which meant that the live entertainment had to be moved indoors from the gazebo, the festival was a resounding success from both a social and a financial standpoint.  Somewhere between 250 and 300 people passed through Sylvan Hall during the course of the afternoon.

While enjoying a scrumptious strawberry shortcake and maybe a hotdog or two, the audience was entertained by a fine collection of musical performers.  To add some variety, the more daring amongst the crowd were invited to participate in french and romanian folk dances.  During the intermission, if one could call it that, because the action never really stopped, the younger (and not so young) set were enthralled by the antics of our favourite clown.  It would seem pretty safe to use the old line that “a good time was had by all”.

As a fundraiser for the LCDA, this has to be one of the best, if not the best, event ever.  Thanks to all the folks who dropped by and the numerous sponsors of the festival, total revenue was over $8300.

Renée Brown and all her team who worked to make the festival happen, are to be congratulated on outdoing themselves.  It seems that every year our Strawberry Festival gets bigger and better.  To see the names of the sponsors, entertainers, donors and team leaders, go the the “Annual Strawberry Festival” page and click on “2010 Programme”

See you there in 2011!
